Position Overview

Reporting to the Production Lead, the CNC Plasma Operator will be responsible for preparing and cutting steel materials in accordance with technical drawings and work orders, ensuring all finished components meet internal quality standards.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma

  • Formal CNC training (an asset)

  • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Background in metal fabrication or steel processing (preferred)

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings accurately

  • Comfortable working with both metric and imperial measurements

  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools

  • Experience operating overhead cranes or material handling equipment

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn

  • Reliable, adaptable, and capable of working independently

  • Physically able to remain standing for extended periods

  • Knowledge of industrial workplace health and safety practices


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines to process steel parts

  • Verify dimensions and quality of all cuts

  • Sort and organize finished components according to production requirements

  • Safely transport raw materials and scrap using overhead lifting equipment

  • Ensure all consumables and gases are properly installed before operation

  • Monitor wear on cutting tools and report any abnormalities

  • Replace gas cylinders safely in line with safety procedures

  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery and filtration systems

  • Assist with other shop-floor tasks as needed
